We found that a number of board members had never read our bylaws, so we concocted a game—Bylaws Treasure Hunt—that we play at a Board Orientation/Training in September. The board members love it, especially the more competitive people, since they play in teams of four or five. Many have commented that they would never have read our bylaws if not forced to during this game, and they were very interested in what they found. We make it up by reading through our very dry bylaws, then imagining funny, outlandish—or very realistic—situations that might arise, forcing us to consult the bylaws.
