When clearing out your closets, drawers, garages and storage rooms, you may have thought: this item is too good to throw away, but where can I take it so it can be used by someone who needs it? Or, you have a bar/bat mitzvah, shivah or other occasion where there is so much food left over you don't know what to do with it. Our Social Action Committee did the leg work and created a list, by category, of places accepting donations. This list was published in our congregation's bulletin so our members could tear it out, keep it on their refrigerator and have the contact information available when they need it.
The categories are furniture and household items; clothing; food; book, school and art supplies and computers and cell phones. Each listing has contact information including address, telephone number, web and/or email address, what is needed and when donations are accepted.
